Attacking the run-up
barrier with the same intensity he tackles a bike-in-need, Bruno
Colchen, our Redwood City Service Manager, flies across the course
in the "B" category.
Even on a day so warm & dusty that many thought of dropping out,
Bruno manages a friendly wave as he heads up the nasty, paved climb
to the top part of the course.
Or maybe he was hoping I'd have a water bottle to grab?
The beginning of a relatively tricky
("technical" is the way the CycloCross vets would say it) descent.

Normally we'd have a lot
more shots of Todd, but heck, Todd doing well in a race is nothing
new (he finished 5th today). However, with our Chain Reaction
banner in the background, this photo made the cut.

going down! Todd's moving pretty quickly up the hill; of
course, in the "Elite" class, just about everybody moves quickly!
The Elite Juniors (the
class Todd's riding in) were riding the course at the same time as
the open-class (all-ages) Elite Women, and here you see Todd riding
with eventual Elite Women's winner Gina Hall.
Above we see Todd heading into the "Forest" towards
the bottom of the course.
On the right is
Gina Hall lapping yet another competitor on her way to winning the
Elite Women's race. Gina seemed virtually unstoppable,
although 2nd and 3rd place were actually less than a minute behind.
