We're Hiring!

07/05/03- Presently we're looking for a bicycle mechanic in our Redwood City location.

Ever think about how much fun it would be to work around bikes and people who love them?
I've been doing it for 28 years now and the thrill is still there.  Every day brings at least a couple new and exciting things that I hadn't thought about before...and sometimes we even get to change people's lives as they discover how much fun it is to ride a bike and adopt a healthier lifestyle.

But that's why I enjoy working at Chain Reaction.  You might consider it because:

#1:  You already love bikes and your addiction requires that you be around them as much as possible.  In addition, fueling that addiction with pro-deal buys from manufacturers is an added plus!

#2:  You've seen how Chain Reaction Bicycles is very different from most shops (particularly in our service department, where we don't pay piece-rate and take the time to do things right) and would like to be a part of something that's really trying to make the world a bit better place, one bike at a time.

#3:  You're independently wealthy (you cashed out of NASDAQ when it hit 5000) but still feel a need to work and help people.  We can help!

#4:  You've been out of the workplace for awhile raising a family, and would enjoy getting your feet wet again in a smaller business that doesn't require that you know Microsoft Excel, Word or Powerpoint in order to be a team player.  And, of course, you really love bikes!

#5:  You're home from school for the summer/winter break etc and have worked in shops before.

We have both part-time and full-time positions available in sales and mechanics.  One thing to keep in mind is that this is retail, and retail sales happen on weekends.  In our Redwood City store, this means working nearly every Saturday, and for our Los Altos location, most Saturdays and Sundays.

Another thing to consider- we pay competitive wages and offer Kaiser medical for full-time staff, but you won't get rich in the bicycle business.  The rewards come from doing something you really enjoy, helping people discover what cycling's all about, getting great buys on bike parts, and being able to ride your tail off in the morning because we don't open until 11am on weekdays!

If interested, drop me an email for the Redwood City location, or my brother Steve for Los Altos, and we'll forward it to the appropriate person.  --Mike--
